History
Sundae or Soondae is a Korean Dish made
by boiling or steaming cow/pig intestines that
are stuffed with various ingredients .It is a kind
of blood sausage and believed to have been
eaten for a long time .The common sundae in
Korea is pig’s intestines stuffed with noodles
and pork blood.
Sundae is a popular late night street
food in Korea . If you are going to Korea ,
you will find this a lot . There is even a town
called Sundae Town . Many restaurants
there served sundae that is why it is called
sundae town. In Korean drama , most of
the actors or actress will eat this.
Taste
If you like chewy and mochi kind of textures,
maybe you will like this .The taste of the
sundae is quite mild but with salt , sugar
and chili powder , the taste will not become
mild. The taste of blood will come beautifully.
Ingredients
3 feet beef or pork intestines
6 sweet potato starch
1 ginger
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon sesame seed
5 scallions
2 cups beef
Method
Firstly , soak the rice for 30 minutes .
Rinse the rice with cold water.
Then cook it in a rice cooker.After it is cooked ,
simmer it for 45 minutes and let it cool.
Clean the intestines with warm water,
Make sure the inside of the intestines is clean
too.
Rinse it with cold water, Then soak it
in salt water solution.Soak the noodle in
luke warm water until soft.Chop rough
the noodle. The scallions must be chop
finely.Dry toast the sesame seed in a pan
with medium high heat.Mix all in a big bowl
Using a funnel or a stuffing machine, gently
squeeze it into the intestines. Do not put to
many stuffing .
It is to avoid it from spilt open
when cooking.Tie it with cotton strings.
After that , cook it in a pot with a salt water
solution.Bring it to a boil , then reduce the
heat and simmer for about 45 minutes.It is
done when the toothpick is inserted and
come out clean. It is done and can be served .
Before serving cut the strings on the sundae.
Don't forget to slice it.
Conclusion
People in Korea eat it because of the taste .
I don't like chewy texture so i would not eat it.
Anyway , it is made out of pig's intestines and
i cannot eat anything related to pigs.Whoever
